To celebrate International Women’s Day, Sisters of the Sea are very excited to be partnering The Big Swim 2026. Now entering its fourth year, The Big Swim is a wonderful celebration of women held in two locations on the UK south coast.

As you know, Sisters of the Sea is all about friendship, support, and the healing powers of the ocean. What better event then for us to get involved with, than The Big Swim.

Hosted in Brighton by Sea Lanes, and in Dorset by Land and Wave, last year the event attracted over 1000 women, for a joyous, chilly sea dip. Supporting each other and dressed to the nines in a multitude of colours, it was a truly fantastic atmosphere.

Organised by PinkNicky, this year will be just the same. The Big Swim 2026 will take place on Saturday 14th March, in Brighton and in Poole, where hundreds of women will enjoy a dip in the sea, supported by lifeguards and by each other.

International Women’s Day is a moment to pause, reflect, and champion women from all backgrounds and locations. The Big Swim embodies that spirit by inviting people—women, families, friends, and allies- to come together in a vibrant display of solidarity.

And it’s not just for fun. The Big Swim proudly supports the incredible charity Surfers Against Sewage. They also ask each woman taking part to take one small action to support and elevate women in their community.

Nicky explains: “Small actions can have a ripple effect, creating long-term, meaningful change that extends far beyond the day itself.”

It could be as small as supporting a local business with a positive review or recommendation, or as large as volunteering with an organisation supporting women’s issues.

SO:
  • If you have been tempted to get in the sea, but reluctant to do so alone, this is your chance!
  • If you are looking for a fun event that celebrates women, this is your chance!
  • If you and your girl gang fancy a weekend away – this is your chance!
