Readymoney Cove

Three images showing tropical colours, Point Neptune House and the turret of a 19th century lime kiln in Readymoney Cove.

Readymoney Cove was not named after pirates or smuggling, or because of the very large mansion that sits on the headland (Beautiful Point Neptune House – once home to Dawn French).
Its name actually comes from an old Cornish word ‘redeman’, meaning ‘stepping stones’ or ‘shallow ford’. The impressive turret in the right image is one of three that sit on top of a 19th century lime kiln. This one has the seal of Fowey cut out of its metal flag.
This is a gorgeous swim spot, popular with sea swimmers, especially on a sunny, out of season day at high tide.
