Ideal as a swim spot in the more blustery winter months, Loe Beach sits at the end of the Carrick Roads – a large section of the River Fal, inland from Falmouth.

Not to be confused with Loe Bar, which is a large sand bar near Porthleven. Loe Beach has a long shingley beach, with many small boats moored offshore, and is very popular for water sports.

However, with crystal clear waters and a gently shelving beach, it is also perfect for wild swimming. It’s a great spot in the winter when boat activity is less, and the swell is bigger on the coastal beaches. There is a small swimming area marked with buoys for those who want to dip, and it’s very easy access, with a car park right on the front.

Loe Beach is best for swimming on a high tide. Swim left from the beach along to the idyllic Pill Creek, or hug the coastline right and enjoy looking at all the big houses with their own waterside gates.

For those who enjoy the hot and cold experience, there is an excellent sauna on the waterfront. And for those who enjoy the swim and cake experience – there is a cafe too! (check opening times.)
