It’s here! - tomorrow I head to the Falmouth Oys

It’s here! - tomorrow I head to the Falmouth Oyster Festival for a four-day market in Princess Pavilion.

There’s a tonne of stuff going on, from famous foodies doing talks, to artist and chef demonstrations, music, food, the market - and of course the Oyster shucking (opening) contest 🦪 🔪

Spread between Events Square and Princess Pavilion, it’s set to be a busy one.

In a dark cave on a Cornish beach sits a carving m

In a dark cave on a Cornish beach sits a carving made over a hundred years ago.

The tale goes that it was carved by a local artist who lost his lover to the sea when she was cut off while riding her horse.

Years later a carving of a horse was added by another artist.

The inscription reads:

“Mar not my face but let me be
Secure in this lone cavern by the sea
Let the wild waves around me roar
Kissing my lips for evermore.”

Beautiful isn’t it? I love that she is slightly smiling.

It’s a little difference but after chatting to ladies at my Falmouth market I knew I had to add a second card.
